Maryland Intercounty Connector Roadway Lawsuit Settled between the State of Maryland and the Environmental Defense FundThe state of Maryland has settled a suit against the Environment Defense Fund, a New York-based organization, regarding their dispute over the building of the Intercounty Connector Highway. According to the terms of the suit, the Maryland State Highway Administration must place two million dollars into reducing and researching the presence of pollution from the project. In return, the Environmental Defense Fund will withdraw their appeal of the federal court’s decision to allow the building of the Intercounty Connector Highway to continue. The group alleges that the affects of the building project and the ensuing pouring of traffic into the areas pose grave health risks to Maryland residents in the form of environmental pollution. Some of the potential problems associated with environmental pollution include respiratory illnesses such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, and others, including cancer and heart disease. For individual residents, the affects of environmental pollution based medical problems are preventable, and responsible parities should be held liable in the civil courts. If you or a loved one has suffered medical problems from environmental pollution, contact environmental law attorney David S. Greene today. ![]()
